We love to collect Kokeshi dolls both vintage and new every time we visit Japan.
Kokeshi dolls are Japanese wooden dolls traditionally made for children. It is said that Kokeshi were originally sold to visitors to hot springs in the Tohoku region of Japan during the late Edo period (1600-1868). The word "kokeshi" is derived from wooden (木 ki, ko) or small (小 ko), and dolls (芥子 keshi).
These highly collectible vintage dolls were found at a fabulous flea market in Japan on our last tour.
They look gorgeous as a small grouping with A & B standing approx. 21cm tall and
C - 16cm, D - 17cm, E - 24cm & F - 19cm.
